Strengthening Safety Habits to Prepare for the Unexpected
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Oct. 6, 2011 – DuPont Sustainable Solutions announces the release of Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety, a new training program on DVD featuring Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III, whose emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River on Jan. 15, 2009, offers powerful safety messages for employees in all industries.
The program focuses on how the four Cs—Competence, Compassion, Communication and Commitment — helped Captain Sullenberger succeed that day. Through his story, employees will learn how they can strengthen their own safety habits and become better prepared to act decisively and authoritatively if faced with the unexpected.
"Captain Sullenberger not only shares DuPont’s passion for safety, but he also has shown the world in an unforgettable way how life-long safety discipline and expertise can save lives," said DuPont Sustainable Solutions President James R. Weigand. "We are very pleased to have this opportunity to work with Captain Sullenberger."
Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety weaves together Captain Sullenberger’s compelling, real-life story with important lessons to inspire workers to incorporate the four Cs into their own lives, both on and off the job. By showing that job competency, hazard-recognition skills and safety habits need to become second nature, the program will help employees develop a commitment to safety that could dramatically affect their own and others’ lives.
"On Jan. 15, 2009, my crew and I were suddenly confronted with a life-threatening emergency for which we had never specially trained,” said Captain Sullenberger. "By relying on our training and consistent use of our industry’s best practices, we were able to apply what we knew in a different way, and in 208 seconds, solve a problem we had never seen before. This was the direct result of operating in a robust safety culture, and it is my hope that this training program helps organizations build and maintain a similarly strong commitment to safety."
Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Those interested in ordering a free seven-day preview of the program should call 800-861-7668 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. A free online preview is available at www.training.dupont.com.
